About THE S.E.A.T PROJECT

SEAT helping Indigenous kids to read.

SEAT was designed by College of Fine Arts graduate Niki Banados as part of the Hands That Shape Humanity Hand Up Mentor Program. It is a small stool produced in a sustainable bamboo factory in Vietnam (this is the first place SEAT is helping!) and is being used to raise money for The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation. Currently 4 out of 5 Indigenous kids in remote areas cannot read or write to the Australian literary standard. And, SEAT is also teaching children in schools around Australia through reading circles, pop-up libraries and art programs, demonstrating what sustainability and positive social change is actually about. For an ordinary stool, SEAT's butterfly effect is quite extraordinary.
